Bridge to Turkiye Fund

Bridge to Turkiye Fund

The Issue
In rural parts of developing countries, many students walk miles to get a primary education. Secondary education typically requires boarding facilities at the next larger town over. For adolescent GIRLS from rural and conservative backgrounds many BARRIERS TO SECONDARY EDUCATION exist. Without adequate dorms in small towns, many BRIGHT and EQUALLY CAPABLE GIRLS from surrounding villages are forced to END their educational journey. OUR BIG IDEA is to construct a 100 bed dormitory in rural Turkey, for such GIRLS.

EDUCATION is the BEST INVESTMENT one can make. OUR BIG IDEA will EMPOWER YOUNG GIRLS, so that they too can realize their FULL POTENTIAL, and fulfill their ASPIRATIONS of a BETTER FUTURE for themselves and their communities.

** facebook yarismasinda, Türkiye’nin kirsal kesiminde KIZ YURDU yaptirabilmek için yarisiyoruz. “Vote for Charity” linkine tiklayarak projemize OY verebilirsiniz. TÜRKÇE DETAYLAR için; http://www.bridgetoturkiye.org/modules/programs/index.php?id=11

The Plan
Schooling Realities by the Numbers: UN-SCHOOLED GIRLS TO BOYS RATIO is 2 to 1. Rural GIRLS are doubly disadvantaged. Discontinuity in rural areas is higher than in urban areas, and GIRLS are always least likely to be in school. Because of gender bias and discriminatory cultural norms, many rural GIRLS are forced to marry at very young ages.

BIG IDEA: BUILD A GIRL’S DORMITORY IN RURAL TURKEY & EMPOWER 100 GIRLS EVERY YEAR…

STUDY AFTER STUDY has shown that when you EDUCATE A GIRL, you educate the NEXT GENERATION. For every year a GIRL is educated in the developing world, her family income increases on average by 15 percent, as does the likelihood that she will pass on the VALUE OF LEARNING to her own children.

VOTE FOR OUR CAUSE: We want to help adolescent GIRLS from rural parts of Turkey stay in school. With $1M we can build a 100 BED FACILITY to be used YEAR AFTER YEAR. If we WIN, we can start construction THIS SPRING for the NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.

The Outcome
GIRLS everywhere should have the OPPORTUNITIES and CAPACITIES that people in developed countries believe possible for their daughters and granddaughters.

We want to EMPOWER GIRLS with the courage and insight to recognize contemporary hopes and dreams. We want to EMBOLDEN GIRLS to take a stand and assert their voice and opinions to make positive change in their rural communities.

Secondary schooling is a powerful determinant of the prospects of FUTURE GENERATIONS. GIRLS’ secondary schooling and social inclusion prepare young women to participate actively in civic life as community leaders and engaged citizens.

We want to INVEST the Chase Community Giving AWARD to give adolescent GIRLS a FULL and EQUAL chance for REWARDING LIVES and LIVELIHOODS.
